workshop Claudia-at-work Paul-working hands-at-work 2nd-owl newt

Claudia  began working with an amour maker in 1988 in Cornwall. She works on her designs to the smallest detail until the whole piece is balanced.  Particular attention is paid to nature and classical proportions in order to reflect this harmony in her work. She uses her skills in repousse techniques to combine ornate ironwork with raised copper panels.

Paul has been blacksmithing since 1986 when he began a traditional apprenticeship.  Although his training focused on traditional work, over the years he has developed a keen interest in contemporary styles. He is able to combine the two to produce modern work made with the neat attractive joining method that traditional smithing demands.

They set up a workshop together in 1990 and their first commission was for some detailing on the gates at Kensington Palace.
